Hence, to fulfill your longing desire, the most-watched Starz series creator, Courtney Kemp Agboh, went over the board to make the sequel. This article is a brief insight to enlighten you on whether you should stream it or not.
Therefore, remain seated because we’re ready to take you on the journey of why this series is worth watching. From having an intriguing plot to multiple emotional moments to meeting new characters while remembering the old ones to drooling over the exquisite Power Book II: Ghost Jacket & Coats collection, we’ve got everything covered. So, let’s dive in the Power Book II: Ghost tv-series review!
But first, let us remind you what happened in the Power’s finale.
To keep everything on-spot, Power Book II picked the same point where Power ended. With the revelation of Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) as his father James Ghost’s (Omari Hardwick) murderer, Tasha (Naturi Naughton) taking a fall for the family by taking her husband’s murder blame on herself, and advising Tariq to go to college and carry on his life. Yes, it was sad to see Ghost die at the hands of his very own son, but life goes on as they say, and it’s time to see Tariq as the honor student at Stansfield.
Anyway, moving on to the new beginnings. (Spoilers alert)
The first episode basically revolves around how Tariq starts his new college life by getting enrolled in the canonical studies program through his law professor advisor, Carrie Milgram (Melanie Liburd), and tries to tie every loose end which can lead to his past life. But everyone grasped when Tasha was almost coming out of the prison and spilled the real murderer’s name.
However, Things might not be pretty simple as they always seem to be, recalling Courtney’s statement about Ghost’s shadows looming over everyone, especially his son, points towards the road of redemption perhaps. But killing your father and starting a new casual college life at Stansfield-how does that sound? Talking about the regrets, tv-series fans were confused about whether Tariq was indeed guilty at Ghost’s funeral, or was it just another remarkable acting skill to remember?
Moving on, not being able to hire a lawyer for her mother’s freedom, Tariq follows in his father’s footsteps by stepping into the world of drugs. In the further episodes, Tariq indulges in selling drugs in the school by working for the star basketball recruit, Ezekiel Zeke Cross (Daniel Bellomy). And things get crazier when Tariq learns about the desires of Zeke’s mother and brother.
To add more spice in the series, the creators have only released five episodes for now, and the remaining five more episodes will be streamed again in December, but the date is yet unknown.
Meet some of the new characters in Power Book II: Ghost
It’s natural to add new faces in the sequels to make the story work, just like that, the creators of Power Book II: Ghost has also introduced some new characters within the familiar ones, to make the series more captivating.
Method Man as Davis Maclean
Being the show’s executive producer, 50 Cent admitted how he begged Method Man to join the show, and we are not disappointed at all. Method Man plays the role of the expensive defense lawyer, Davis Maclean, that Tariq wants to hire for his mother’s case. Not only the American rapper acted exceptionally, but his $500,000 fee is also the reason behind Tariq joining the Tejada drug clan. Currently working as Tasha’s attorney, Davis only wants to win in this world of drugs and murders.
As the sequel’s primary focus is on Tariq now, let’s meet his love interest, Diana Tejada. Here we can see the ‘cliche’ happening in the series, where a powerful mother doesn’t let her daughter go anywhere near the protagonist while she keeps running the boy that her daughter desires. Sounds familiar, right?
Now let’s talk about the one thing that viewers loved the most: the outfits!
The one thing that series wardrobe stylists are excellent at is styling their show’s characters with appealing Hollywood Leather Jackets that you can buy feasibly from anywhere. Just like that, the Hollywood TV series Power Book II: Ghost Jacket Collection is something that we need to talk about right away. For instance, the main protagonist, Micheal Rainey’s constant fashion moments in his college dressing fulfilled the fashion stylists’ expectations effortlessly. Ever since then, the Power Book II Ghost Michael Rainey Jr. Jacket is exactly what everyone’s been gossiping about. And let’s not forget Power Book II Ghost Mary J. Blige Leather Jacket either as she is the drug gang leader and knows every well how to slay her style flawlessly.
Despite being the Power series sequel, some fans aren’t happy with Tariq being the show’s main character. It’s hard to see your favorite character die, but analyzing the series plot, it seems that perhaps, Tariq will follow in his father’s footsteps only to face his very own reflection in the end. Overall, we recommend this series to be streamed, as most of us have always loved the crime genre. What are your thoughts on this review article?
